Day 6
In Chapter 5, Peter tells us who our enemy is: the devil.
Here’s what we need to remember: the devil opposes God, God’s people, and anything that’s good in this world! The devil is a ‘roaring lion’ who’s ‘prowling around.’ He’s looking for anyone who’s isolated and disconnected, and he’s looking for any vulnerable or unguarded spot in our hearts. In this Chapter, Peter gives us keys to resist the devil and overcome his schemes.

Day 5
It’s inevitable that we’ll face trials and tribulations as we follow Jesus.
Jesus is a refiner who allows us to go through the heat of fiery ordeals so that all of the impurities can come to the surface and be removed. The good news is that once He removes the impurities, Jesus and others will be able to see His reflection in our lives.

Day 4
In Chapter 3, the Apostle Peter highlights how God calls us to handle various relationships in our lives:
Husbands, live in an understanding way with your wives.
Wives, be submissive to your husbands.
Everybody, be kindhearted and humble towards each other.
By the time Peter wrote this book, God had transformed him from an impulsive, young leader into a seasoned Apostle who was both gracious and firm in his relationships.

Pray for your relationships with neighbors, co-workers, friends and family to be full of grace and truth.

Day 3
At the end of Chapter 2, Peter reminds his readers that we’re all like sheep who’ve gone astray and that Jesus is the Great Shepherd and the Guardian of our souls! He suffered for us. He was reviled and didn’t revile in return. He entrusted Himself to God the Father. He bore our sins in His body. He died on the cross. By His death we’re set free. And by His wounds we’re healed. That’s the good news of the Gospel!

Day 2
In Chapter 2, Peter gave wise counsel for how Christians ought to live in this present world and he started by reminding Christians that we’re like ‘newborn babies’ (2:2), ‘living stones’ (2:4), a ‘royal priesthood’ and ‘God’s own possession’ (2:9). In order to behave differently, we’ve got to believe differently and in Chapter 2 Peter exhorts his readers to believe what God has to say about our identity.

Day 1
Just like John was called the Apostle of Love and Paul was called the Apostle of Faith; Peter has been called the Apostle of Hope. The picture of Peter in the Gospels is amazingly different from that found in his own writings. In the Gospels we see Peter as an impulsive, restless soul, sometimes fearless but sometimes a coward, even going as far as to deny his Lord with a curse! In his own epistles, he seems patient, restful and loving, with a courage purified and strengthened by the Holy Spirit. These 5 chapters are an amazing illustration of the transforming work of Jesus in someone’s life.
