“Fight the good fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12). All throughout scripture, the Christian life is described in different ways; a race, test, etc. In Chapter 6, Paul reminds us that following Jesus is a FIGHT! The Christian life was never designed to be easy and it’s not something to be considered lightly. We’ve got to fight if we want to be overcomers! But remember … it’s a “good fight.”

SERMON TO LISTEN TO:
Listen to this message about how the church is called to overcome the gates of hell and advance the kingdom! In other words, we’re called to fight the good fight.
In Chapter 5, Paul makes it clear about how we should conduct ourselves in our relationships with others. Remember that in Philippians, Paul gave us a foundational principle for all our relationships when he said that we should, “regard one another as more important than ourselves.” If we truly are thinking about others, we will treat them the way God calls us to. The Christian life isn’t meant to be lived alone, and doing relationships God’s way is always best!

SERMON TO LISTEN TO:
Listen to this message from Pastor Brian to hear stories, practical advice and Biblical truths about relationships in our lives, specifically dating relationships.
People are always trying to find what they can do to inherit eternal life. Paul warns Timothy of this and encourages him to stick to the basics of the gospel and not stray away to “various and strange teachings.” Instead, we should seek to simply lead a godly life, because godliness has value! Young or old, as believers we should see ourselves as examples for others in our speech, conduct, love, faith and purity.

Listen to Pastor Brian’s message about the vision to reach college students and help them find & follow Jesus, discover their design and live on mission.
In Chapter 3, Paul gives us a description of the type of character we should strive after as leaders. If the church is going to fulfill its mission of proclaiming the gospel, making disciples and changing the world, then it must be led by leaders with integrity who hold fast to the vision. We must remember that God prioritizes character over charisma and godliness over giftedness.

Listen to this message from Pastor Brian about the ministries of Jesus and how He came to set us free and empower us to grow in our faith and character.
Christians are called to pray! In verse 8, Paul said, ‘I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands…’
We’re not only called to plead with people to turn to God but also to plead with God for other people! In Chapter 2, Paul specifically calls us to pray for our leaders. It’s good to remember that when Paul wrote this letter Nero was the emperor of Rome and was considered a wicked ruler who arrested & persecuted Christians.
Here’s what we can learn from that … no matter who the person is, we’re called to pray for them.

Listen to this message from Pastor Brian about the importance of devoting ourselves to prayer.
1 Timothy was written by the Apostle Paul. It’s the first of the three Pastoral epistles (1 & 2 Timothy and Titus), written to ministers who were serving and leading local churches. Because Timothy was a young man, we see valuable suggestions and instructions for other young people who are learning how to love Jesus, love others and live on mission.
