In just one week, our team at Texas State has made meaningful connections with hundreds of new students.

Students are open, eager to connect and looking for a place to belong. Many are already inviting their friends and taking steps to get involved, building the foundation for friendships that can last far beyond the first weeks of school.

We saw this when around 175 Texas State students joined our team for a river cookout with sand volleyball and yard games, where new students connected with teammates and members of our church. Many thanked our team afterward, not only because they had fun, but because they were beginning to find a community on campus.

A student leader visited a fraternity house, where nearly every freshman he met was asking questions about faith. After the student leader shared his testimony, one freshman pulled him aside, admitted how much he had been struggling since arriving on campus, and asked the student leader for help.

Tara and Audrina met our team at an event where we were sharing about Survivor Weekend at Texas State. They came to our river cookout, experienced community, and signed up for the trip. Tara shared that she had been praying to find a church that also did things she enjoyed and that Hope Church and Survivor Weekend were helping her find exactly that.

Two more freshmen, both searching for a church, connected with a member at an outreach event. Before leaving, the freshmen shared how excited they were for the midweek meetings to begin because they already felt like they belonged.
